Nina Römer (b. 1978 as Nina Tangian in Moscow) and Torsten Römer (b. 1968 in Aachen) first met while studying painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where both became Master Students under A. R. Penck.
In 1998, they joined forces as the artist duo and couple Römer+Römer. They have lived and worked in Berlin since 2000.
